Tour Overview

Murchison Falls National Park is in north western Uganda, spreading inland from the shores of Lake Albert, around the Victoria Nile, up to Karuma Falls. MFNP, along with the adjacent Budongo Forest Reserve are a home of 76 species of mammals as well as Uganda’s largest population of Nile crocodiles. 450 bird species are present ranging from easy variety of water birds, including the rare shoe-billed stork, dwarf kingfisher, Goliath heron, white-thighed hornbill and great blue turaco, among others. Murchison Falls National Park is also very famous for the magnificent Murchison falls, with about 300-400 cubic meters per second of the Nile force through a tiny gorge of about 7 meters to plunge into a violent tempest in a whirlpool about 42 meters below.

Day Two: Early morning game drive and boat ride on the Victoria Nile

After a simple cup of tea at 6:00am, we will go our early morning game drive. The early game drive is a better time for great sightings of the nocturnal animals along with the early risers. We will explore the major game trails especially around the area of Paraa for good game spotting including lots of elephants, lions, jackals, kobs, and hopefully the elusive leopards among other animals. We will come back from the game drive at 11:00am for a hearty breakfast and then relax as we wait for lunch to be served. After an indefinitely short time of relaxation, we will set out for the afternoon boat ride on the Victoria Nile which is the high spot for any Murchison Falls Safari because you’re able to spot lots of animals at a close range. You can spot lots of buffaloes, Nile crocodiles, elephants, water bucks, and many more animals that come to the Nile to refresh themselves up from the scorching sun and graze along the banks. The Nile is also a birds’ magnet. We will be able to see the crush point of the Ernest Hemmingway. The ride takes you close to the foot of the Murchison and Uhuru falls for yet another sight of the breathtaking falls. We will then head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
