Tour Overview

Western Uganda is a home to 8 of Uganda’s 10 National Parks, among its other natural endowments which include numerous lakes and rivers which are majorly located in the Western Rift Valley. On this trip, we will visit Entanda Cultural Adventure in Mityana, Semuliki National Park, Amabeere caves, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kitagata Hot springs, Igongo Eclipse monument and we will cross the Equator a number of times as we make this journey for five days.

Day 1: Entanda Cultural Adventure and drive to Fort Portal

We will set off from Kampala at 8:00am for a 2 hour’s drive to Entanda Cultural center, Kijjude village, Mityana. Where we will be welcomed by the community with a traditional dance where anyone is free to join and dance along with the community members. We will then each plant a fruit tree, which as we will learn, are for the sustainability of the provision of the sumptuous fruit buffet that we will be treated to! The gents will go for a hunt while the ladies are taught the traditional way of preparing “luwombo” the traditional food of the Baganda people. We will then have “senga” and “kojja” talks before we are then served our delicious lunch…. After lunch, we will then have a football match with the community soccer team before embarking on our journey on to Fort Portal where we will have our dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Semuliki National Park and Amabeere caves

After early morning breakfast at 8:00am, we will have an hour’s drive to Semuliki National Park, which the home of the famous “female” and “male” Sempaya Hot springs! We will have a nature walk through the dense rainforest and visit the 2 Hot springs where we will be able to boil eggs in the female hot spring and take beautiful photographs on the long walk board that leads to the male hot spring.
At midday, we will return to Fort Portal for our lunch and then drive to Amabeere ga nyina mwiru caves in Nyakasura, where we will have a hike up Mweganye Hill which provides a beautiful overhead view of Crater Lakes; Saaka, Bigere and Kikere. We will then return to Fort Portal for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park

We will leave Fort Portal after an early breakfast at 8:00am for Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasese where we will have a Boat ride along the wonderful Kazinga Channel which provides a chance for one to view hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and numerous bird species among other animals that come for a drink of water at the water body. Kazinga Channel joins Lakes Edward and George.
At 2:00pm, we will have our lunch and then visit the salt mining village at Lake Katwe before visiting Katunguru fishing village along the Kazinga Channel. We will have dinner and Camp for the night.

Day 4: Kitagata Hot springs and Igongo Eclipse monument

After our early morning breakfast at 7:30am, we will drive through the National Park and head for Kitagata Hot springs in Sheema district where those who would like a chance to bathe in the water claimed to have healing powers, a natural steam bath, will enjoy themselves in the water while we boil eggs and make millet Porridge “bushera”. We will have a few stopovers on our way there to view crater lakes: Rutoto (aka Lake Africa) and the Green Lake.
At 2:00pm, we will have lunch in Mbarara City where we will then have a hike up the Eclipse monument at Igongo Cultural center. Dinner and overnight at 8:00pm.

Day 5: Drive back to Kampala

Checkout and breakfast at 10:00am and we set out on our drive back to Kampala with a few stopovers to capture pictorial moments with friends. One of these stopovers will be at the Equator.
